I want to re-paint / decorate my filing cabinet (it's been painted green by someone and it's so old that the colour is wearing away in places)

Can I paint with acrylic on this, do i need to do anything to prepare the surface first, should I use a different/particular type of paint for this job?

Thanks

In my art work I stick Epson pigment photo prints onto plywood, then paint over them to extend the image. I then glaze and appliy shellac as the final coat. I was using enamel paint, but I have tried your Acryics with good results.
I now want to glaze the paint and photographs to seal them and give a gloss finish then, shellac for the final finish.
I was thinking of try MM7, or should I use MM14.

Could you tell me what the drying time of the body paint is? I am looking to cover a person with the paint and before the paint dries to effectively use them as a stamp on a canvas. Is it possible to slow the drying time down?

I recently purchased some of your tubes of student ... (Mark)

I recently purchased some of your tubes of student and artist range acrylics for use on cresting arrows. Simply put painting wood. The arrow shaft is turned via a motor to allow even "bands" of paint to be applied onto the shaft. However i found it almost impossible to do so. The paint was "see thru' where the brush had made direct contact with the wood and also created 'ridges" of paint to the sides. No matter what I tried I could not solve this.I even tried to thicken it up with your varnish but it made little difference.Various brushes too.

I had used your sealer to seal the shaft a day before. I noticed the fluro colours were worse and that the Artist tube was slightly better as was the tub of Student Black when compared to the student tubes. In fact the white fluro was almost impossible to apply at all. Out of interest an old cheap tube of Palmer prisim acrylic(pinched from my kids craft bin) seamed to work quite well. Maybe because it was just old?

I had previously once used Humbrol modelers paint for this purpose with no difficulties. Is there something Im doing wrong with your paints or is it a water acrylic vs oil type problem. Im no artist ;(
Many thanks.

Hi there,
I purchased your Derivan Challenge paints (student grade) in 2 litre bottles a few years ago. I have found them quite transparent on canvas when dry, and requiring another coat. Would your MM2 Impasto Medium work on this range of paints, or only on the structure and flow range?
I look forward to your response.

Hi, I have just been asked to teach folk art and decorative painting at a local craft shop. As I believe Matisse is the best range of paint available I wish to use it in my classes. Can you tell me if you have any paint sets ideal for starting up a business. Or do you sell wholesale to businesses with what sort of arrangement. I am not particularly financial and am exploring all my options at the moment. Anything you can tell me would be useful.

Could you tell me what the square inch coverage of your liquid pencil product is? I would like to cover a 20" x 20" area with it and want to make sure I have enough to do this all at once. Also I am using the permanent type, if I thin this a bit with water will it still burnish up?

Thanks for your help.

Hi, I have been advised by an art supply ... (Michelle)

Hi, I have been advised by an art supply store to use the 'fabric fixative' as the medium to transfer photos (a photocopy onto paper) onto canvas however, this has not been working very well for me (or it could be that I haven't quite perfected it!). A friend has been recommended to use the 'Gel Medium' which has worked quite well for her. Can you please tell me what the best medium is to use and how I should go about doing it?

Many thanks

I have a group of teenagers that help me in organising face painting locally. Often we do events and festivals where 100s of children in a day want their faces painted. I want some sort of storage device that can be used so that before a festival I can set-up each of their kits with 12 colours and a few brushes and sponges. I want somthing that is air and water tight so that the paints don't dry or run into each other. Do you know if such a storage product exists?
